How to Turn a Drawing into a 3D Model
To turn a drawing into a 3D model with Morfff, draw or upload a sketch, generate a 2D character image, then use that image to generate a 3D model. Review both stages before downloading the result.
What you need before you start
A drawing of one character and a Google account are enough to start. You can draw directly in the browser or upload a PNG, JPEG, or WebP image. Generation requires signing in and is subject to usage limits.
If you are a parent working with a child’s drawing, use artwork you have permission to upload. Leave names, school details, and other personal information out of the image. For the current product scope, read About Morfff.
1. Prepare the drawing
Choose a single character with a readable outline. Include the whole shape, especially long tails, wings, horns, and feet. When photographing paper, use even light and avoid a shadow across the face.
- Keep the distinctive proportions. A tall, thin creature should remain tall and thin in the source image.
- Make the important features easy to see: the number of eyes, the shape of the mouth, or an unusual silhouette.
- Remove unrelated objects from the background without cutting off the drawing.
A rough drawing can be a useful starting point. It does not need shading or a polished illustration style.
2. Generate and check the 2D character
Open the Morfff drawing studio, draw or upload your sketch, and generate a 2D image. This is the reference for the next stage, so compare it with the original before moving on.
Check the silhouette first, then the face and small details. If a creature has one eye in the drawing but two in the image, generating a 3D model from that image will start from the changed design. Adjust the input or try the image stage again before spending a 3D generation.
AI interprets the drawing rather than making an exact copy. Morfff’s goal is to keep the character recognizable, but shapes, proportions, and details can change.
3. Generate the 3D model
Once you are happy with the character image, choose 3D generation. When it finishes, rotate the model and inspect the front, sides, and back. A single drawing does not describe every angle, so the AI must infer surfaces that were not visible.
The current output is a mesh: a three-dimensional surface. A painted eye, stripe, or mouth in the 2D image may not become a raised or recessed feature in the mesh. The 3D result is not a promise of a fully colored or textured replica.
4. Download the right file
Open the completed character in My Gallery to download its 2D image or, when generated, its GLB model. The printing export lets you choose a height and download a 3MF file.

Can I turn the model into a physical keepsake?
A downloaded model is a starting point for print preparation. Inspect thin parts, disconnected pieces, the base, and support requirements in a slicer. A successful export does not confirm that a model will print well.
Morfff does not currently accept physical product orders or ship figurines. The current workflow ends with digital images and models.
What is the difference between a 3D image and a 3D model?
A 3D-style image is still a flat picture, even if the character looks like a toy. A 3D model contains geometry that you can rotate and inspect from different angles. Morfff creates the image first and generates a model in a separate step.
